On the five pillars of climate change denial
1) There is a clear scientific consensus and models have been robust over the last 30 years. Therefore, some deniers rather focus on skepticism of related policies and costs.
2) Acting against climate change only costs a small fraction of the world GDP, but this will increase if no action is taken. Also, trillions of subsidies still go to fossil fuel industries.
3) Many people, especially in the global South, are vulnerable to rising temperatures. Plus, destruction of biodiversity means that less emissions can be taken up by nature.
4) The more developed countries cause a higher degree of emissions and therefore should contribute more to climate change mitigation. A green economy also provides jobs.
5) We have to act now and not think that everything will be better in the future; such typical reasoning is used to delay the abolition of injustice, as has happened before in history.
