The historian Yuval Noah Harari argues that
“industrial farming is one of the worst crimes in history”

This concerns both the animal abuse that occurs when animals are kept for agricultural purposes and when they are slaughtered. It is also the case that the large-scale breeding in livestock farming contradicts evolutionary logic. Industrial farming doesn’t allow for play – while play is the manner in which non-farmed cattle learn social skills which are vital for survival and reproduction.
