Karma: what it actually is(n’t)
Karma is the natural law of cause and consequence. The word literally means act – it is not ordinance or fate. Karma can be international, national, local or individual. Everything that we do has a proportionate consequence. Don’t make distinctions between small or big deeds; a small spark can even cause a huge haystack to burn down.
Sometimes karma is used as an excuse not to help others – saying that whatever people suffer, it is just karma. Especially in the West people “say that actually to help others would be to interfere with something they have to work out for themselves.” However, that is merely “an evasion and betrayal of our humanity.”
